Mining

Global Surface Mining has been a pioneer in successfully implementing surface mining technology into Australian projects, providing excellent results in comparison to traditional mining methods.

Global’s fleet of surface miners cut, crush and load material in a single pass, eliminating the need for drill and blast, and primary crushing. This method reduces capital expenditure requirements and operating costs by reducing the number of diesel machines and personnel required onsite. Global provides a range of innovative equipment, experienced staff and mine planning resources to provide a stand-alone service to resource owners and mining contractors anywhere in the world.

Global has maximised value for many clients in mineral deposits such as: Iron Ore, Uranium, Coal, Limestone, Bauxite, Laterite, Salt, Nickel.

Surface Miner Benefits

Selective Mining

Selective mining of mineral deposits with Wirtgen or Vermeer surface miners enables layers of ore with different mineral grades to be mined in separate operations. This makes it possible to mine thin seams that would otherwise be uneconomical to mine by drilling and blasting.

Increased Grades / Reduced Dilution

Surface miners enable the selective mining of multiple, varying ore body contours for better grade control and increased delivery of high grade ore with minimal dilution. Where orebody contact zones meet waste and overburden, a surface miner can ensure maximum recovery.

Eliminates Drill and Blast

One surface miner can replace a number of machines onsite, as well as drill and blast, and primary crush. This low capital option is highly suitable to Greenfields start-ups as mining can commence in a relatively short amount of time.

Eliminates Primary Crusher

The cutting drum on the surface miner crushes material to a consistent size eliminating the need for additional primary crushers. This also reduces trucking costs relating to large boulders being loaded into trays, creating uneven loads and spilling onto haul roads.

Can Remove Top Soil and Overburden

Surface mining machinery can also perform accurate top soil and overburden removal, eliminating the need for additional machinery such as bulldozers and rippers, and extra personnel onsite.

Environmentally Friendly

Using surface miners in areas where blasting is not an option can change the viability of a project. There is also less noise and air pollution, less vibration and lower overall impact to the surrounding areas.
